Postpartum Support

As a postpartum doula, Tara  “mothers the mother” and supports the family as they adjust to their “new normal” in the early weeks and months after the birth of a baby. Postpartum doula care is tailored to the specific needs and wishes of each mother and family.

What does a Postpartum (or Postnatal) Doula offer?

  • Evidence-based information and support around newborn feeding, soothing techniques, understanding normal newborn behaviour, and postpartum health and recovery.
  • Emotional support in the early postpartum days and weeks, often a vulnerable time for parents as they make the transition to parenthood. The doula listens without judgment and helps new parents to trust their instincts.
  • Practical support, such as help with laundry and dishes, simple meal planning and preparation, and help looking after your baby and/or older siblings while you have a shower, a sleep or undisturbed time with the new baby.
